How can I pick up my rented car?

You can either pick your rented vehicle from our main office location, about 2 minutes from the airport, or have the car delivered to you.

Can Vamos Rent-a-Car deliver the car?

Yes, as a matter of fact most of our clients have their car delivered (either to the airport or their hotel).  We will prepare all the paperwork in advance; this way you can take possession of your car at the airport without having to wait!  No lines, no shuttle busses, no hassle.

1. We prepare the rental agreement in advance (all you do is sign upon taking possession of vehicle)

2. When we deliver your vehicle to the airport, we wait for you at the exit of the arrivals terminal with a sign displaying your name (airline arrival info is required)

3. You check-out the car at the airport or hotel.

We can also deliver the car to all regions of the country for reasonable fees, please see table at the bottom of this page for rates.

 
Do you have an airport location?

No, an office at the airport would require us to raise our rates.  You can arrange to have one of our representatives meet you at the airport for a $7.00 fee.  Just provide us with your arrival info; we will wait for you at the exit of the arrival terminal with a sign that reads your name.

Do you have an office in Liberia ?

Yes, we have as of October 1st, 2007.  Our new Liberia location is open and ready to serve.

How much is the deposit?

The deposit is $750.00.  At the start of the rental we authorize your card for this amount.  At the end of the rental, we release this amount back to your credit card.

How old do I have to be?

The minimum rental age is 18 years.   However, if you are between 18 and 21 years, the deductibles on CDW and theft insurance are doubled.

Can the car leave the country?

In general, rent a cars cannot be taken out of Costa Rica.m We can, however, offer you the following alternative:

1. You tell us the dates that you need a car in Costa Rica
2. You tell us the dates that you need a car in Panama or Nicaragua
3. We arrange the rental in Costa Rica and reserve your car with another company at the border to meet you.
4. All you have to do is meet us at the border to return your car, cross the border (by cab) and have a representative from our strategic rent-a-car partner meet you at the other side of the border with your rent-a-car.

 What happens if the rental vehicle experiences mechanical difficulties?

If your rental vehicle experiences mechanical issues, just contact us with the supplied cell phone (from anywhere there is cell phone coverage) 24 hours a day!  We will either send you a replacement vehicle or have a mechanic resolve the issue on the spot.  Our main goal is to get you back on the road as fast as possible.  If you decide to terminate the contract at this point, we will prorate the unused amount of the rental.

 Do you accept my credit card auto rental insurance program?

Yes, as a matter of fact, the National Insurance Institute (INS), the only provider of insurance to all rental car companies, does not cover small scratches, or other minor damage to the rented vehicle.  Therefore it may better for your protection to utilize the insurance program provided by your credit card.  In most cases, the credit card auto rental insurance policy may cover all damages to the rented vehicle.
